Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Amber Travel is a travel company based in Kas, Turkey, that provides outdoor activities and cultural tours in the southern parts of Turkey. It´s run by Mike and Karen, who has been living in the country for over 15 years now. They are specialized in hiking, biking and kayaking and offer a wide variety of choices within these activities.

For a few days, Nick was going to coach 4 local paddling guides in the Kas area and I got the chance to come along and observe the 3* Training and Assessment. We had such wonderful days. The surroundings with it´s white limestone cliffs, the cristal clear water, the good company with the guys being trained and Mike and Karen showing us their favourite restaurants in the evenings, made the stay in Kas an absolute-have-to-go-back-experience.

To anyone who hasn´t been in Kas, I think you should go. And take the opportunity to join a paddletrip with Amber Travel. A favourite spot is Kekova, the Sunken City, where you can see house walls and streets on the bottom of the sea from an ancient town that was destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century. It´s a beautiful place to visit.

More pictures from Turkey can be found on my MobileMe Picture Gallery.

If you click the pictures, they will be presented in a lightbox.
