Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Catching the last beams of the November sun.

skapad 2014-11-30 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

I feel very privileged to live a short 5 minute walk from the ocean. It takes me less than 20 minutes from making a decision to go paddling to the fact that I'm dipping my toes in the water before jumping into the cockpit of the kayak. And this Sunday was definitely showing off already when I woke up this morning with clear crispy sky, only a couple of degrees above freezing level and a wonderful November sun hanging low in the sky.

As a team of three, my two island neighbors (Johan and Mårten) and I, we walked the kayaks down to our homebay, launched and immediately started to paddle along the smooth granite slabs that you'll find all over in the fjord where I live. The smooth winter light was turning the rocks into amazing pieces of art and we were all just stunned by the beauty of our back garden.

We didn't go far. We didn't paddle fast. We didn't encounter any obstacles. And there were no incidents what so ever. But what we did find, was a great time spent together on the water and having a break on the pink granite rocks with a hot cup of tea. It was a perfect Sunday for catching the last beams of the November sun.

If you click the pictures, they will be presented in a Light Box.
