Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Proud Ambassador of Palm Equipment

skapad 2014-08-20 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

Many years ago, my older brother did a lot of running. He was using his floppy old trainers, a sweaty long sleeve in some kind of syntetic fabric that smelled like something the cat had dragged home and that definitely had seen better days.

This was around the time when I had just taken the big dive into the endless sea of outdoor adventures. I had come to learn that it might be a good idea to throw away my cotton pants I’d been using for hiking, buy some good quality hiking boots to avoid breaking off my unstable ankles, get someone to explain to me that Gore Tex wasn’t the name of one of the pre extinct dinosaurs, learn the difference between a dry suit and a wet suit, try to find the perfect blade angle for my paddling style and a few other things I felt the need to know when entering this new world of adventures.

It would be a lie if I told you that I'm not that interested in good quality outdoor gear. I actually love it!!! I would rather eat chickpeas and rice for a week to be able to buy that cool, light, carbon paddle I've set my eyes on, than eat chocolate cake each day and buy that ugly, heavy aluminium paddle that would probably give me tendinitis 5 times over. It's not that I need to have the most expensive things. As long as I know they will suit me and my needs, that's great. And if that Gore Tex jacket looks good on me too? Well, that doesn't hurt does it?

So I'm super happy that I'm one of the Ambassadors of Palm Equipment. It started already in 2012 at the Paddle Expo when I got in touch with Paul and Rowena at Palm Equipment They were looking for sea kayakers to test their gear, write reviews, submit feedback and assist them in developing their clothing range and paddling gear. It's great to see the transformation Palm has done over the last few years. I love that they are playing with colours as much as they do, that they really think about developing their gear both from a performance and a design point of view. Not only do the colours of the PFD's, the paddle jackets etc make you feel a bit happier when you put them on but they all look a lot better on pictures as well.

It's great to be part of this team and I'm looking forward to be assisting them, as much as I can, in their development of some great paddlng kit in the near future.

So what happened with my brother? Well, he bought a new set of running clothes and a new pair of shoes and realized that the cliché was actually true. At least for some time...

If you ever have any thoughts about paddling kit from Palm, feel free to reach out to me on mail@greenadventures.se

Here is a current list of Palm dealers in Sweden:

Below are some pictures of some Palm paddle clothes I wear a lot.
