Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

My 1.5 seconds of fame with Volvo.

skapad 2014-04-24 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

(So this is a pretty old story, but I thought I share it anyway, since I never wrote about it on my blog when it happened.)

I think that the film crew from Edithouse could have been happier. They were a bunch of great and very cool people but the commercial film they had produced for the new Volvo Car models, was actually already done. Kind of. But suddenly some boss at Volvo thought it was a bit too masculine and wanted to add something more feminine to the film. Maybe a female paddler? And that's where I enter the story.

So one evening I take the car (the Volvo, the Green Bean, of course) and drive down to Gothenburg with my Arrow Nuka on the roof rack and with my sisters dog keeping me company. She was super excited and so was I, if I'm honest. At least in the beginning. Before the rain started falling and the darkness arrived...

On the set it felt like it was for real. Like it was a real movie they were going to shoot. Lots of people hanging around, eating, smoking, chatting, walking back and forth, cables everywhere you looked on the ground, insanely expensive filming gear coming out of the strangest boxes I've ever seen. And there, the directors chair in the middle.

Having paddled about 1000 times back and forth in the big lamps and hitting the super duper expensive film camera a few times, wearing only the life jacket (and a bikini) we called it a night and I could, shivering, get a cup of tea, jump into the car and start driving home again.

It was a weird evening I must say. Not really like anything else I've done before in my paddling career. But it was fun. And in the end, it turns out that the 15 seconds of fame everyone is supposed to get in their life, according to Andy Warhol, turned into 1.5 seconds of fame for me. Ha ha ha... what a joke! I still haven't had to sign a single autograph. But hey, who knows what the remaining 13.5 seconds of fame will bring?

Check out the final result here below.
