What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

The Essential Sea Kayak Festival 2012

Welcome to the first Essential Sea Kayak Festival: Anglesey 2012!

We invite sea kayakers of all abilities to join us for this 3-day celebration of the very best of North Wales sea kayaking. Based on the world-famous island of Anglesey, the event will offer an exciting range of coaching sessions, workshops, trips, tours and presentations - matched by lively evenings of entertainment...

Sessions afloat will include:

Tide race skills/White water/Surfing/Rock hopping skills for sea kayakers
Boat handling/Leadership/Incident management skills for the 3/4/5 Star paddler

Forward paddling techniques - fine tune your performance
Survival skills in the 'impact zone' - Coasteering for sea kayakers

Practical navigation afloat
Expedition planning - top tips & advice
Sea kayak trips - explore the beautiful Anglesey coastline

If you're new to sea kayaking, there's no need to feel left out - we're offering 12 places on a special 'Intro Sea Kayaking' weekend to coincide with the event. Come and learn to sea kayak in inspiring company and soak up the evening ambience!

The 3-day event will take place on 20-22 October 2012. Participants are also invited to take part in a further week of BCU training/assessment courses, trip and tours between 23-28 October. Details to follow.

We intend to offer a maximum of 100 places to this inaugural Essential Sea Kayak Festival. We will post a detailed programme, venue details, booking forms and a list of guest coaches by the end of February 2012. Watch this space!

The Essential Sea Kayak Festival is organised by Kayak Essentials, Green Adventures and Oswestry Adventure Education.
