Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Miss Arrow Nuka has landed

skapad 2012-01-16 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

A few months ago I got a call from Nicolaj at Arrow Kayaks in Denmark. He was wondering if I might be interested in getting a Arrow Nuka over to Wales, so that I had a good boat to paddle while I'm spending time over here. Well, I didn't have to think too long before giving him the answer, that YES! I would be more than happy to paddle a Nuka in the Welsh waters.

What a great combo that would be. To be paddling at some of the most exciting paddling venues on this planet, in a kayak I'm REALLY fond of. It was the same model I paddled when I was in Denmark last autumn and I'm sure it will become a great friend of mine in the rough waters around Anglesey, on multiple day trips in Scotland, on new exciting trips down to Pembrokeshire in south Wales and even maybe on the still canal in Llangollen among the mountains. So thank you so much Nicolaj for sending the boat over this way! When you come for a visit, I'll let you paddle it too. ;-)

So after we'd picked it up, we went to Cable Bay on Anglesey to try it out. Well, we were also on a mission you could say. We were going to take some pictures to a future to come article that Nick is going to write for the Ocean Paddler Magazine, so we made the best out of the sun that day in our boats. John joined us and even if he's more of a river paddler, I suspect that he really enjoyed the time he spent on the water. Even if it was in a sea kayak...

I'm going to be around Wales for some time now, so if there is anyone who would like to try the Nuka, just send me an email and we arrange something.

If you click the pictures, they will be shown in a light box.

More pictures from this day can be found on my MobileMe Picture Gallery. The album is called Edging and Turning.

I just can't help it. When I'm in the Nuka I just have to play around.
