Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Getting ready again

skapad 2011-11-20 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

The days are short and dark. The fog is thick as a smoothie and the rain is hanging in the air. But the wind is very light and has been for the last two weeks in the southern part of Sweden. The last two weeks would have been super good for completing the trip around Denmark but of course there wasn't a chance for us to go back at that point. Now we can only cross our fingers that Mr. High Pressure wants to hang around this part of the world a little bit longer or that he can send over some of his friends if he needs to move on. I guess that might be a little too much to ask for but I learned once that if you wish something to happen, all you have to do is think about it really hard and then it comes true. It's probably bull but hey, I'm definitely gonna give it a try!

At the end of next week, we are planning to continue the trip. We know we won't get the Red/White ribbon "award", since our break has been too long, and that is totally understandable. But the most important thing is that we now set out to finish something we commited to do earlier this year. We really want to finish the trip this year and doing it now in the end of November/beginning of December will be very exciting. Camping out in this wet environment this time of year with very few day light hours and possible cold rain and maybe even some snow and ice (if we're lucky) will give us different tasks for us to solve. I'll definitely bring a good book. Or two...

Since the insurance company I have is working really slow, we have had some help from friends this time who have lended us some gear so that we can finish the trip now. I truly appreciate all the greetings, support, cheering and help we've gotten from people we know and dont know. Thank you all! You are amazing!

I'll be updating my blog while we are paddling the last 300 km from Själland to Jylland, so if you don't have anything to fall asleep to during the next few weeks, make sure you pay a visit to my blog! :-)

Some of the stuff that will join us on the trip. Sorry for the bad photo quality, I still don't have a new SLR camera...
