Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

More BCU Training in Lysekil

skapad 2011-09-29 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

The five days we´ve spent in Lysekil have just been soooooooo good! The 3* Training was blessed with just the right conditions to be suitable for that level and belive it or not, but when it was time for the 4* Traning on Monday, the wind picked up and the weather gods pleased us with some really interesting conditions to paddle in.

Some of the staff members of Nautopp completed their 4* Traning and Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning during three days at the beginning of this week. They calculated tides in Liverpool, Ullapool, Swimmingpool (?) and learned about high water and low water, tidal ranges, the 50-90 rule and then spent lots of time on the water in their kayaks and lots of time in the water.

The training took place in three different locations to get the most out of the course and to get the chance to train in different environments. It was pretty windy during these days and that created a perfect seastate to do lots of rescues, towing excersices, problem solving, trip planning and to develop their personal skills. The last day the conditions were even beyond 4* level but everyone seemed to enjoy the time on the water, even if the head wind at times felt like a wall infront of us.

I didn´t take many pictures on this course, but you'll find lots of pictures at Nautopps website. And make sure you don't miss their cool film from the two courses. You can watch it further down on this blog post too.

Thanks everyone for great days on the Swedish westcoast!

5 colorful dots in the big grey on the last day of the 4* Traning. Here just before launching in Stockevik.
