Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Evening fun with Nautopp.

skapad 2011-07-06 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

Nautopp is based on the westcoast of Sweden in the small town of Lysekil and is surrounded by the sea. It´s a fantastic starting point for a paddle, since you only have to take a few paddlestrokes before you reach the first island in the beautiful granite archipelago you find in this area. It´s a typical summer destination, 1 hour drive north of Gothenburg and lots of people come here to enjoy the salty breeze of the sea.

In the center of the village, you´ll find the kayak and outdoor store that is run by Kathrine and Torbjörn. They´ve been here for a few years now and offer a wide range of kayaks, paddlegear, outdoor stuff and lots of different paddling activites on the sea. They are very devoted sea kayakers them selves and they even have a dog that loves joining them when they go out paddling.

Yesterday we felt we just had to do some evening rolling, so we all went down to the Sivik Campsite, where they run their kayak rentals and we had an amazing evening. The sea was hardly moving at all and the water was cristal clear. And quite warm to be honest. The theme for the evening turned out to be something like "do it with one thing less". Have a look at the pictures and you´ll see what I mean.

More photos from the evening can be found on my MobileMe Picture Gallery.

If you click the pictures, they will be presented in a lightbox.

Thank god the water was warm...

The sea felt really smooth this evening, almost like jelly.

Except for the times when there was a local tide race around Torbjörn, rolling without the paddle. ;-)

The Ivalu, once again, made people smile!

And so did we when Kathrine tried kayaking without the kayak.

You can´t really complain about life when you get an evening like this.
