Trekking to the far end of the world - Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hidden away from the rest of the world, Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Patagonia, Chile is a beautiful gem that completely blew my mind during our 5 day trek last week. I still dream about it every night and can't wait to go back.

What is it about lighthouses?

I love lighthouses. And I know I'm not the only one. The attraction lighthouses has on me is equivalent to what lots of people feel when they see a brand new Aston Martin in the street or probably how a horse enthusiast feels when a proud Arabic horse is running across the fields in the sunset. There's something magic about them.

Arrow Kayaks and Ivalu #3.

skapad 2011-06-22 i 'Green Adventures Blog'

In the picturesque village of Svendborg on the island of Fyn, Denmark, you´ll find Arrow Kayaks and Nicus Nature. The companies are run by Nicolai Ilcus and he´s got a fantastic kayakcenter. The kayakshop´s got wooden floors, loads of space for displaying kayaks and lots of "must-have" paddle gear. The shop is right next to the water and just a short paddle away, he´s got another place where he rents out kayaks and run courses.

I met Nicolai last autumn at the dealers meet in Helsingborg that was run by Leif Davidsson at Aterra when he came over to Sweden to present his Arrow Kayaks. I got the chance to try the Arrow Nuka and the Arrow Ivalu and I really enjoyed paddling both of them. And I fell in love with the Ivalu right away. Long, slim, so easy to roll, great seating comfort in the cockpit and beautiful lines all the way. I just had to get one.

And so I did. It was the first Ivalu that was brought to Sweden. I never really got the chance to paddle it before Leif asked me if you would consider selling it to Carin at Horisont Kajak. Well, as long as I got a new one, that was fine with me. Then I got #2. I paddled it once and then Leif met someone that wanted to buy it. So he sold it. I guess it´s not just me that gets carried away when they try it.

Then came yesterday and it was finally time for me to pick up Ivalu #3. I decided already on the way to Denmark that I´m not letting go of this one. Not even if someone is offering me a kingdom in exchange.

Thank you Nicolai and Vaida for a great danish day! And thanks also to my friend Kristian Gunnemo, who came down to the water this evening to take some pictures of the Ivalu.

More pictures of the Ivalu can be found on my MobileMe Picture Gallery.

If you click the pictures, they will be presented in a lightbox.

No greenland stick this evening, only europaddle in my hands. Cross over kayaking it´s called.

I know we´re going to be the best of friends, Ivalu and I.
